A message from conductor and Music Director Karen Grylls:

“Chilcott’s view on Purcell’s Hear my Prayer, Sandström’s view on Praetorius’s setting of Es ist ein Ros may be more familiar to many of you.

I am excited to perform Renna Esmail’s When the Violin which uses Victoria’s setting of O vos omnes in response to a text by a 14th century Persian poet, Hafiz, about moments of sorrow, seen through darkness and suffering.

Der Weg by Leonie Holmes , alongside Bach’s Komm, Jesu, komm, newly commissioned for this occasion, will be a real highlight of the concert. It will be very exciting to perform Japanese composer Ko Matsushita’s work in our recital.”
